We do not know whether plants are conscious or not. But the fact is that it has been proven that plants have a kind of awareness. How do trees communicate? And what about? Trees communicate through roots. As soon as information has been transmitted, action is taken accordingly. They communicate with each other like an organism. Scientists have recognized that plants can clearly do more than previously assumed. They can taste feel, smell, hear and see. Even if we still do not know to what extent they perceive this, the fact, that itself is impressive. Communication through roots The roots of the trees is also known as the "command center". It serves as the perception of the plant. The tip of the root socks itself out in a similar way, like a worm that worms its way through the earth and absorbs water and nutrients. The root tip then sends the information to the leaves via the roots in height. This is also a way the tree can tell the season and reacts accordingly. For example, if there is not enough water, the leaves are ordered to close their openings. That might sound counter productive, but it should prevent that too much water evaporates within the leaf. Like we communicate via WhatsApp, plants communicate in a way among each other that we haven't yet have fully understood. Just like plants probably not understand why you can get 10 minute long voice messages or far too big WhatsApp stickers sent with a thousand smileys. They instead tell each other if there are predators nearby or general danger like a fire. When the leaves of the trees are eaten, warning signals are sent to the tree. This also applies if, for example, an animal has laid an egg on one of the leaves.The tree then produces more chemicals that affect the predators in a bad way. Why trees are very important! Forests are not only great for walking the dog, or to build huts together. They are also very useful for us and the environment.And they have a very important job: the production of oxygen. Trees release the oxygen into the air, we humans and also need animals need it to live. A fully grown tree provides roughly as much oxygen as 11 people breathe. They also process the gas CO2, carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide, as already known, is harmful to the environment and humans. So trees help to make the air cleaner. The forests in danger. But there is a big problem with that. Because more and more forests are being lost worldwide, since more trees have been felled than trees have grown back for decades. In some countries, huge areas of forest are felled every day. This is especially important in the Rainforest, because those trees no longer produce oxygen and get carbon dioxide out of the air.
